Superbloo for ChatGPT
ChatGPT can now edit entire videos end to end with Superbloo — cuts, captions, graphics, color, sound and export, on a real timeline.
The short answer
Yes, through Superbloo. The ChatGPT chat window cannot cut video files itself, but OpenAI's Codex — included with ChatGPT plans — can drive Superbloo's editor. Choose Codex inside Superbloo and sign in with your ChatGPT account, or connect Codex over MCP. It then trims, captions, grades, mixes and exports real projects that you review and undo.

Key facts
How it works
Real edits on a real timeline — every one of them reviewable and undoable.
Say what you want the way you would in ChatGPT: length, platform, tone, what must stay in.
Codex is editing
It reads your footage and transcripts, then cuts, captions, reframes and mixes with Superbloo's tools.
Scrub the result, undo any single change, adjust by hand, then export for YouTube, Reels or TikTok.
Why it works
A chat window has no timeline — at best it hands you a script to run. Superbloo is the editor, and Codex, OpenAI's agent in your ChatGPT plan, operates it for you.
Upload a video to a ChatGPT conversation and ask for an edit, and you usually get one of two things: a description of what it would do, or a Python or ffmpeg script to run yourself. ChatGPT is a language model in a chat window. It has no timeline, no way to play your footage back, and no way to show you a change before it is rendered into a file.
Superbloo gives it those things. Superbloo is an AI video editor built so that an assistant can operate it: every action a human editor takes — placing a clip, cutting on a word, adding a caption, grading a shot, ducking music — is a tool the AI can call, and every call becomes a normal edit on a multi-track timeline. The AI that operates it for ChatGPT users is Codex, OpenAI's agent, which you sign into with the same account you use for ChatGPT.
Under the hood
Codex reads your transcripts and footage analysis, then edits with Superbloo's tools. It can only change your timeline — and every change is undoable.
The quickest route happens entirely inside Superbloo. In the desktop app's Agent panel, choose Codex — "Use your ChatGPT subscription" — and sign in. Codex then takes your briefs in Superbloo's composer and edits the open project with Superbloo's tools. Its own file and command access stays read-only; the only thing it changes is your timeline.
If you already run Codex in a terminal or an IDE, you can bring it to Superbloo instead. Superbloo runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, an open standard that lets AI agents use outside tools. Paste a short block that Superbloo generates into Codex's config file, restart Codex, and it can list your Superbloo projects, open one and edit it while you watch.
Either way, Codex is not working from guesses. Superbloo transcribes and analyses every clip when you import it, so Codex can read what was said with word-level timings, search your footage for a moment in plain words, check what is on screen in a recording, and look at rendered frames to confirm an edit worked.

Grade, match a reference or apply a LUT.
Sound
Denoise, duck music under speech, hit a loudness target.
Footage
Search footage and transcripts in plain words.
Library
Licensed clips, music beds and sound effects on demand.
Delivery
9:16, 1:1 or 16:9 with the subject in shot, up to 4K.
Example prompts
Write it like a ChatGPT prompt. These make good first requests.
“Cut this webinar down to a 3-minute highlight reel.”
The strongest segments, in order, at 3:00.
“Make a 9:16 TikTok version with big animated captions.”
Reframed shots and a bold short-form caption style.
“Zoom in every time I click something in this screen recording.”
Smooth push-ins on each click so the UI stays readable.
“Split at every topic change and add chapter markers.”
Named chapters, ready to export as a list.
“Add upbeat music and cut the montage to the beat.”
A music bed with every cut on a beat.
“Make 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16 versions.”
One reframed export per format.
Setup
Option A needs nothing installed by hand. Option B is for tools you already run, like Codex CLI or Cursor.
One click in the desktop app. Codex runs on your ChatGPT subscription; nothing to configure.
Sign in and open a project.
In the Agent panel's selector. It installs itself.
Or reuse the Codex login already on your Mac.
Type it in the composer and watch it land.
For people who already run Codex in a terminal or IDE. Superbloo writes the config for you under Settings → Connected agents.
A short block in Codex's config file.

}A native Superbloo app inside ChatGPT itself is coming. Until then, Codex — inside Superbloo or over MCP — is how ChatGPT users edit with Superbloo. On the web, keep the project open in a tab while the agent works; on desktop, Superbloo can stay in the background. Open Superbloo on the web.
Why Superbloo
Fine for a quick trim. For an edit you want to shape, the gaps add up.
ChatGPT alone: Upload limits; long or 4K footage rarely fits.
With Superbloo: Projects from one clip to a hundred gigabytes of raw footage.
ChatGPT alone: Limited to what its code can extract from one file.
With Superbloo: Transcripts, shots, faces and on-screen text for every clip, ready before you ask.
ChatGPT alone: Re-run the script and download a new file.
With Superbloo: An instant timeline edit you can undo on its own.
ChatGPT alone: Burned in by code, hard to adjust.
With Superbloo: Editable caption and motion-graphic layers with styles for each platform.
ChatGPT alone: Whatever the script produced.
With Superbloo: Color, mix to a loudness target, reframing and export up to 4K.
Where it runs
Choosing
ChatGPT is the product, Codex is the agent that thinks, Superbloo is the editor that touches the footage. The result is a normal project you can keep editing.
ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat product. Codex is OpenAI's coding and tool-using agent, available with ChatGPT plans and signed into with the same account. Superbloo is the video editor. When you edit with ChatGPT in Superbloo, Codex is the part that thinks — it reads your brief, plans the edit and decides each step — and Superbloo is the part that touches the footage.
That split is why your ChatGPT subscription pays for the reasoning and Superbloo credits only come into it when you generate new media or render in the cloud. It is also why the result is a normal Superbloo project: you can open it, keep editing by hand, share it with a teammate or export it to Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro from the Mac app.
Pricing
Codex's reasoning runs on your ChatGPT plan and timeline edits are free. Credits only go to generation, and video always asks first.
Codex's reasoning is covered by your ChatGPT plan. In Superbloo, reading your project, making timeline edits, and motion graphics that Codex writes itself cost no credits. Credits are spent on generating images, video, speech, music and sound effects, and on the web on captions and cloud exports; the Mac app runs captions and exports locally for free.
Nothing expensive happens without you. Video generation always stops for approval, image generation does too unless a daily budget you set covers it, and each connected client has its own spend permission, daily budget and per-call limit that you can change or revoke. Codex can never delete a project or remove media that is still in use.
FAQ

Not on its own — the chat window can describe an edit or write a script, but it has no timeline. With Superbloo, OpenAI's Codex (included with ChatGPT plans) can operate a full video editor: cutting, captions, graphics, color, audio and export, as real edits you can undo.
Yes. Choose Codex in Superbloo's Agent panel and sign in with your ChatGPT account. Codex's reasoning runs on your ChatGPT plan; Superbloo credits are used only for generation and cloud rendering.
Codex is OpenAI's agent for coding and using tools. It comes with ChatGPT plans and you sign in with the same account. In Superbloo, Codex is the AI that plans and carries out your edits.
No. With the in-app option you pick Codex in the Superbloo desktop app and sign in — nothing else. MCP setup is only needed if you want to drive Superbloo from a Codex you already run in a terminal or IDE.
Not yet. A native Superbloo app for ChatGPT is coming. Today, ChatGPT users edit through Codex, either inside Superbloo or connected over MCP.
Codex sees what Superbloo shares through its tools while it edits: transcripts, footage analysis, timeline data and the rendered frames it asks for. Your media files stay in your Superbloo workspace, or on your Mac for local projects.
Superbloo charges no credits for Codex reading or editing your timeline, and Codex's reasoning runs on your ChatGPT plan. Generating new media spends credits, and on the web so do captions and exports; on the Mac app those run locally for free.
Exports go up to 4K in every common aspect ratio — 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, 1:1 and 4:5 for feeds — plus caption files (SRT, WebVTT) and chapter lists.
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for letting AI agents use external tools. Superbloo runs an MCP server so Codex and other agents can operate its editor.
